Itinerary
- Depart from Miyako Hotel Kyoto Hachijo (Formerly New Miyako Hotel). Then walk to Kyoto Station to take local train to Saga-Arashiyama Station.
- Visit Tenryuji Temple. Tenryuji was built in 1339 by the ruling shogun Ashikaga Takauji. Takauji dedicated the temple to Emperor Go-Daigo, who had just passed away. The two important historic figures used to be allies until Takauji turned against the emperor in a struggle for supremacy over Japan. By building the temple, Takauji intended to appease the former emperor's spirits.
- Proceed to Sagano Bamboo Grove. The heart of the district is the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, a mesmerizing grove of thousands of tall bamboo plants. A paved walkway runs through the middle of both sections, forming the famous “Bamboo Alley,” one of Kyoto’s most photographed sights.
- Then, visit Jojakko-ji Temple and Togetsu-kyo Bridge.
- Lastly, board the Yakatabune Boat for a Japanese Style Lunch.
- Tour end upon arrival at boat deck in Arashiyama.
