Japan Visa Applications
JAPAN VISA APPLICATIONS WILL RESUME ON MARCH 22, 2021

On March 18th, upon the announcement of Japan Government about new border measures, the following measures, which were to be taken until the cancellation of State of Emergency was declared, will still continue until further notice. 

  1. Suspension of Business Track and Residence Track 
  2. Suspension of new entry from all countries and regions 
  3. Suspension of special measures when returning or re-entering Japan from a short-term business trips to all countries/regions 


On the other hand, after the State of Emergency is cancelled (it will be cancelled on March 22nd, 0:00), the following cases will be accepted. 

  1. Spouse of Japanese National 
  2. Spouse of Permanent Resident 
  3. Long-Term Resident (Except Notice no.3) 
  4. For “Education/Professor” status, those who have a document from the host institution/organization, that shows there is a vacancy position and it is necessary to enter the country in order to solve the situation that it is difficult to carry out the educational activities of the institution without the supplement, will be required (free written format). 
  5. Medical Stay 
  6. Certificate of Eligibility with description of 「1584」 in Red font 
  7. Former Permanent Residents whose re-entry permit (including special re-entry permit) has expired and need to travel to Japan urgently 
  8. Official/Diplomat Visa 
  9. Visas for humanitarian consideration or urgent need (Depends on the content of application) 


※Above No.1 – 6 requires Certificate of Eligibility. As for the handling of the Certificate of Eligibility which validity period has passed, please check our website for reference. 
※No.8 and 9 is as same as before. 
※All cases stated above, it is expected that the processing and issuance of visa will take longer than normal times. 

Please note that other type of applications (Short-term Business, Tourism, Employment, Entertainment, Student/Study, Technical Intern Trainings except for the No.4 and 5 stated above), will still not be accepted until further notice. 

There are no changes with handling for those documents in relation to COVID-19, such as Negative Certificate of Test Result, Written Pledge (Individual), and Questionnaire. Please check our website for your reference.
